Fantastically satisfying, spicy, and rich Indian food here at Tilak. Have been back twice now with groups of friends and will definitely be back again.

Veg options are all delicious; I can't speak for the meat options as I've not had them yet. Reasonable prices and portions for a place in the city. I'm always full when I leave here!

    Must order:
    - Tandoori vegetables (the smokiness and sourness!!!)
    - Saag paneer
    - Bhature
    - Garlic naan

This is slowly becoming one of our favorite to go spots, when we can't decide otherwise.

First off, the service is great. The waitresses and waiters are very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant has a minimalistic design but full of amazing Indian spices smells.

The Puri appetizer and the samosa are not to miss! We also highly recommend their biryani (any of them), they just perfect them. Not to mention the chicken tikka Masala, that is one of my favorites in the bay.

You can't go wrong with a naan basket, it comes with 6 pieces of naan (2 of each are of different flavors).

    We love this place !

One of the best Indian restaurants I've been too. If you've had Indian before and ever been disappointed you definitely won't here. The spices were excellent and the flavors explode in your mouth. This place will change the way I eat at other Indian restaurants because I don't think anything will ever compare.

5/5 don't sleep on this place, you won't regret it!

Fresh, tasty Indian food with friendly service. It wasn't greasy and didn't feel heavy like most. Will definitely go back again!

OH myyyyy. I'm hooked on Indian food now after having tried Tilak. Since my newfound obsession for South Asian food, I've been on the hunt to find the best Indian food in SF (I'm not claiming myself as a connoisseur in this field by any means, but I know what's good to me when I taste it).

Tilak is a nice, quiet dining spot in Bernal Heights, just after getting out of the Mission, so street parking is comparably bearable here. It's nothing fancy or trendy, but still nice enough to grab dinner on date-night.

Entrees - Like most other reviews here, absolutely get the Tikka Masala and/or Butter Chicken. Each dish is perfect for 1-2 people, depending on your hunger-level. My husband and I both worked up an appetite coming from work, so we ordered 1 of each. Both so creamy and savory with juicy dark chicken. If you have to choose one of the two dishes, go with the Tikka Masala if you're looking for a more interesting, flavor-punch! If you're not too keen on savory/salty-packed dishes, go with the Butter Chicken, which is more mild.

Naan - OH BABY. Butter and hot damn. I chowed down like 3 pieces of naan w/in 2 minutes. Just get the plain ones, and I assure you you'll be happy.

Basmati rice (white lemon rice) - can't go wrong here!

Service was good but nothing wildly memorable, but the lack of remembrance here is clearly not my deciding factor when the food trumps all!
